The Splendid Darkness paintings were born during a year-long period of retreat and silence, when I turned inward to explore what lies beneath both light and shadow. In these works, darkness is not emptiness but a fertile field — a generative ground from which light and form emerge. Created with layers of organic pigment, mineral textures, and intricate detail, the series evokes constellations, cosmic webs, and living networks that bridge the intimate and the infinite. Each piece is a meditation on paradox: collapse and expansion, stillness and motion, dissolution and creation. At its heart, Splendid Darkness is an inquiry into how the unseen scaffolding of the universe — whether cosmic or within ourselves — can become visible through art, as a vessel of primordial remembrance.
