The Ferocity of Peace

Inspiration Behind the Painting...
Peace is often imagined as gentle, still, or serene. Yet in the world’s wisdom traditions, peace can also be fierce: unyielding in its clarity, protective in its compassion.
Mother Sky embodies this paradox. Arcs of gold turn and spiral as if in sacred dance. They recall the dākinīs — sky dancers who move freely between realms, guardians who embody compassion with a sharp edge. Their dance is not ornamental but transformative, cutting through illusion while opening space for renewal.
This is the ferocity of peace: compassion sharpened into discernment, love that can bless and protect in equal measure. The dākinī’s dance is not wrath for its own sake, but clarity in motion — a reminder that freedom is not absence, but presence vast enough to guard what is sacred.
The painting invites us into that recognition. Peace is not only soft; sometimes it arrives like lightning, sudden and illuminating. Sometimes it spirals like wind, unsettling what must be released. And sometimes it holds us like sky itself — spacious, unbound, and fiercely alive.✨

Update - "Mother Sky" has found a beautiful new home in Vail, Colorado with wonderful new collectors. May it continue to glow into their lives for many wonderful years to come.
